Is Samburu Worth A Visit?

Samburu National Reserve is a hidden gem among safari goers for many reasons. Apart from the fact that Samburu has many wildlife species worth exploring, it is a year-round destination as there are no stormy seasons. An arid and semi-arid climate characterizes the reserve.

The dry conditions in this area make it easy to spot wildlife as grass is short and the animals often graze near the few water sources. The primary source of water in Samburu National Reserve is the Ewaso Ng'iro River.

During the rainy months (from November to April) the vegetation in Samburu is usually tall and green, and it is a great time to see migrant birds. This ecosystem has over 450 bird species, including the lesser kestrel, vulturine guineafowl, and the taita falcon.

Key Takeaway

Is the Samburu National Reserve entry fee worth it? The answer is yes, and we highly recommend touring the wilderness that boasts stunning landscapes and a mild climate. Samburu also has world-class lodges and hotels with a fantastic collection of packages to ensure your stay will be memorable. The national reserve is an excellent option for first-time tourists and regular tourists.
